Weld Australia is the premier welding certification body in Australia. Nationally recognised and accredited by the International Institute of Welding the Weld Australia offers individual certification as follows:
Qualification is evidence of education, training, and knowledge gained. A Qualification is valid for life and cannot be withdrawn if earned legitimately e.g. a degree or IIW Diploma.
Certification provides written assurance, by an independent third party, that an individual is competent to carry out a specified class of work. Certification is valid for a set period of time, giving verification of recent competence and continuing professional development (i.e. enhancement of their knowledge and skills). Certification is concerned with current competence rather than historical attainment and periodic renewal is required.
In order to gain certification you must hold the required qualification in addition to the requisite number of years’ experience at the relevant level.
Examinations are generally held in State capital cities around Australia.
Locations and start/finish times of examinations will be provided upon confirmation of registration.
Alternative Routes to Qualification without attending a training course
The alternative route is for you if you already have relevant knowledge and experience at a particular level but don’t currently have the appropriate qualifications or gained Australian qualifications after 2007. You can apply to go directly to the examinations without compulsory attendance at an approved training course.
The application involves assessing your experience, education, training, and practical work experience in welding at the relevant qualification level. The assessment process includes a paper assessment, completion of a case study project, presentation to a panel of examiners and oral interview. Once you are successful through these stages you must pass the relevant exams.
A pass in the exams leads to the award of the relevant qualification.
The alternative route is available for:
