Women in Welding

Home 5 Women in Welding

Weld Australia is an active advocate for the participation of women in all male-oriented industries, which can ultimately lead to equal employment opportunities, closing the pay gap, and greater representation of women.

Women make up less than one per cent of the local welding and fabrication sector. As such, Weld Australia supports and promotes the inclusion of women and equal opportunities for female apprentices to begin a strong career in the sector.

Weld Australia provides ongoing support for women in the welding industry through a variety of measures like membership, qualification and certification, advocacy and other additional resources.

As a member-focused organisation, our team works for you – we want to help you grow and develop and generate new opportunities.

Advocacy

As the peak body representing the welding industry in Australia, Weld Australia is the leader in advocating for the growth of world class welding in Australia, including Women in Welding. In all our advocacy activities, our goal is to secure the future of Australia’s welding industry.

Weld Australia promotes and advocates for enhanced practices and greater opportunities in the Australian welding and fabrication sector. We conduct face-to-face business, lobbying and formal initiatives to advocate for a range of issues that matter the most to women in the Australian welding and fabrication industry.

We are proud to host the Women in Welding discussion group, where Australia’s leading female welding professionals focus on addressing the issues faced specifically by women in the industry.

Weld Australia also advocates for measurable targets to make changes to the gender composition of Australia’s trades. We actively lobby the Federal Government to introduce a targeted approach to recruit women into all trades. Our approach is to support new training programs designed specifically for women, which inspires and encourages workplace participation and gender equality.

Women are key to building a strong local welding and fabrication workforce.
