The need for professionally qualified welding personnel has been widely recognised on a global basis. ISO 3834:2005 Quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials and ISO 14731 Welding coordination - Tasks and responsibilities call up the International Institute of Welding (IIW) International Welding Engineer (IWE), Technologist (IWT) and Specialist (IWS) as the minimum recommended qualifications for the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) at the Comprehensive, Standard and Basic Levels respectively.

Also, major purchasers around Australia are now calling for suppliers to move towards establishing a welding management system to ISO 3834 and then achieving certification against the IIW Manufacturers Certification Scheme for 3834. This will also improve the productivity, efficiency and global competitiveness of such suppliers.

To assist companies to train their staff to undertake this role as Responsible Welding Coordinator, the WTIA OzWeld School of Welding Technology and WTIA IIW Approved Training Bodies (ATBs) are offering, during 2008, the only courses, both public and in-house, in Australia which satisfy the full requirements for the globally recognised International Institute of Welding (IIW) qualifications.

Enrol now in one of the training courses leading to IIW and Australian qualifications and certification, to help advance your career and support the competitiveness of your company to keep work in Australia.
